Cheri Sing’s passion for dance was ignited by her first dance teacher, Bernie Tederington who grew up dancing on the Vaudeville circuit. Bernie taught Cheri how to tap dance. Cheri also studied ballet and modern dance for over a decade. She attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and received a degree in French. She later attended Eastern Michigan University where she studied education and Spanish, and currently, Cheri teaches French for Dexter Community Schools.
Cheri lives in Chelsea with her family and has found her way back to the world of dance thanks to the inspiring people and environment at the Tree of Life Cultural Arts Studio. She teaches Tribal Belly 101 and 102, African/Tap/Jazz for ages 5-7, and Tumble –N- Twist, a creative movement class for preschoolers. Cheri also performs with Nomadic Jewels Tribal Bellydance, Tree of Life Drum and Dance Society, and the Cabaret Chelsea Dance Corps.
